Monday 8th March 2010 Programme: International Women's Day


The Women's Institute and Women for Women International Presents...

Women Reaching Women – Raising awareness of the Millennium Development Goals

LOCATION: Cliffe Bridge, Lewes, BN7 2RE by the precinct and over the River Ouse

Programme:

10.15 – 11.00: Meet in precinct and Bridge Walk – Music ‘Bridge over Troubled Waters’

11.00 – 11.10: Walk up to Town Hall

11.10 – 11.40: Refreshments Raffle

11.40 – 12:10: Watch the Oxfam DVD titled ‘Sisters of the Planet’

12.10 – 12.40: talk by Sybil Oldfield titled ‘Some Inspiring Forerunners; Women Who Reached Women before Us.’

12.40 – 1.10: Talk by Abigail Petit from Gossypium Textiles, ‘Joining Women’s Skills across the World.’

***If you have any white shirts/t-shirts, please wear! It will mark a symbol of peace for the meeting on the bridge (We will have cool campaign t-shirts for sale at £8 each!)


***Speaker Sybil Oldfield is a Historian attached to Sussex University who has written books on International Women's Suffrage, History of Fenimism, Doers of the Word (British Women Humanitarians)
 
***Speaker Abigail Petit is the Director of her own cotton fairtrade clothing company called Gossypium Textiles.
